My name is Andy Legrand and I am the SA-BEST candidate for Lee in the coming state election.
Unlike the Liberal and Labor candidates, I live in the electorate and have done so for 35 years. I’ve grown up in the area and have many friends and family who live and work here - we wouldn’t have it any other way!
However, while I believe that our community is the best in Adelaide and provides the perfect environment to raise a family, we are being let down by a tired Labor government whose priorities are misplaced, and an ineffective Liberal opposition that offers no real alternative.
Jobs, the cost of living, housing affordability, health and aged care and education have all been badly mismanaged and it is time to correct them with Nick Xenophon’s SA-BEST team. We will deliver transparent and accountable government to our state.
We want a future that will be exciting and rewarding for the next generations of South Australians. We need to retain our brightest young minds and halt the exodus of 18-35 year olds interstate. Enormous opportunities await us and the time has come to seize them and put South Australia firmly back on the national map.
The cost of doing business here is in dire need of repair, starting with taxes and the price of electricity. The Labor government is spending more than a billion dollars of your money trying to fix the mess it helped create.
As an asset, project and energy manager in the local government sector, I have seen first-hand the results of the bad decisions made by this government. We need a strategic plan that has substance and detail to guarantee our future energy needs, rather than throwing lots of taxpayers’ money at quick fixes, such as dirty diesel generators.
With over 20 years of experience in reducing electricity costs in the private and government sectors, I understand what is required to deliver affordable, reliable and clean energy and reduce power bills for families and businesses.
Your opinions are important and I want to meet as many fellow locals as I can over the coming months to listen to your ideas for Lee and SA. You can contact me via email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the campaign office on (08) 8545 0400.
It’s time to vote for a party that isn’t shackled by vested interests. It’s time to vote for SA-BEST to make Lee the best it can be.

Some of the issues that need real action...
Reducing Electricity Costs
You know there’s an energy policy void and market failure when both State and Federal Governments are on their knees, begging private companies to turn on or keep their generators operational. We should be in a position to guarantee supply.
I’m looking forward to presenting fresh ideas with Nick Xenophon and SA-BEST to keep the lights on for households and business, at the most affordable cost.
Access to high quality palliative care for the dying should be a right for all citizens, regardless of age, diagnosis or socio-economic status. Adequate care, pain relief, nursing support and information about end of life care should be mandatory.
Small businesses are the biggest employers in our community. We don’t want to see deregulation of shopping hours which favour the major retail chains and damage the financial viability of smaller retailers.
Local Government Accountability
Some political parties and organisations think that putting a cap on rates will somehow make councils more efficient. However, the community expects that all their services will be delivered as usual, and caps could result in poorer service quality. Ultimately, the type and level of services offered by local councils should be decided by residents. There are opportunities for councils to deliver these services more efficiently without reducing their standards.
It concerns me that other areas of the state have been the focal point for State Government economic development, yet Lee has been overlooked. I want to see a strategic plan developed for the area that includes industries such as advanced manufacturing and precincts that link research with industry. I also want to see an increase in the number of job opportunities for local residents.
