Sam is a Legislative Council candidate for SA-BEST. He is very enthusiastic and focused on developing opportunities in regional SA.
Port Augusta's Mayor, Sam Johnson, has described himself as a 'proud born and bred Port Augusta boy', who's passionate about invigorating the city's economic and social future.
The 31-year-old bank manager was elected as the Spencer Gulf mayor in 2013 at the age of 27.
A fourth generation Port Augusta boy, the majority of Sam’s family all still reside there.
Sam wants to see more business growth in regional SA, and had been active in helping his local council push economic development in the city for several years.
He specialised in commercial and small business lending with experience in agricultural lending. He has a passion for helping small businesses grow and providing the right finance options to allow businesses to grow, and working with clients to help see them reach their goals.
As well as a banking career, Sam has been actively involved in local government for 12 years, including his role as Mayor in the Spencer Gulf region, where he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience
Sam is a keen supporter of major renewable energy and agricultural projects.
