Jassmine is the SA-BEST candidate for the seat of Colton. She is deeply involved with her local community including as a Councillor for the City of Charles Sturt.
Jassmine is passionate about standing up for the residents of Colton on local issues, supporting small business and encouraging Australians and government to support ‘Australian made’, in particular South Australian goods and services.
Jassmine was born and raised in South Australia, and with her husband Jason and their two small children has lived in Colton for many years. They love living in the western suburbs of Adelaide, enjoying the rich culture, diversity and lifestyle that the area has to offer. Together they run a small family business with an environmental focus, selling rain water tanks and pumps.
With Italian and English heritage, Jassmine appreciates that the electorate of Colton is made up of many different cultures. She has served for a number of years on the committee of an Italian Society, including several years as President. She understands the importance of embracing and encouraging the celebration of the many different cultures that contribute to our local community.
Jassmine is currently serving on the governing council of two local public schools. She has served on the board of a not for profit nursing home, is a member of the local business association and an honorary member of the Henley Surf Lifesaving Club. She is passionate about making sure every local resident counts, from children to the elderly, families, members of local community groups and small business owners.
In 2014 Jassmine was elected Henley Ward Councillor for the City of Charles Sturt. In her time representing the local residents she has fought on their behalf on many issues including parking meters at Henley Square, saving the local library, advocating for a permanent solution to the condition of West Beach and representing local opposition to a telecommunications tower. In her role as local Councillor Jassmine has consistently represented her local community and worked hard on their behalf on the issues that matter the most to them.
Jassmine understands the cost of living pressures on everyday South Australians and as Chair of council’s Audit Committee is committed to financial transparency in all levels of government.
Jassmine believes that it is time for a change for the better in Colton and that the people of Colton deserve a true alternative to the two major political parties. She has chosen to join SA-BEST as the party of the sensible centre of politics, committed to real change that people can trust.
