Hazel is our candidate for the seat of Mawson. Her focus is on helping individuals and organisations address local and social issues.
Hazel has had a very broad working life, attaining qualifications in graphic design, photography, childcare and as an artist.
As a childcare director she was very concerned over the state of government support for childcare and served on the national committee NOSHSA, advocating for equity in childcare payments. After a decade in childcare Hazel undertook the challenge of working in the private sector in the building industry, firstly with Homestead Homes and later with Scott Salisbury Homes.
In 2011 Hazel embraced a new challenge taking the position as sales manager for the start-up magazine Fleurieu Living. This role gave her a strong sense of the communities that make up the Fleurieu Peninsula.
In 2012 she became chairperson of the Aldinga Bay Business and Tourism Association, promoting small businesses who in turn fundraise for worthy community causes.
Hazel was elected to the City of Onkaparinga for Wine Coast Ward (Mclaren Vale/McLaren Flat/Willunga/Old Noarlunga/Aldinga/Sellicks Beach) in late 2014 and over the past few years her focus has been squarely on helping individuals and organisations address a very wide range of local social and economic issues.
Hazel is currently a Director on the board of the Aldinga Bendigo Community Bank, Chair of the Aldinga Bay Business and Tourism Association, Chair of the McLaren Vale BOCCE Club, Arts patron of the Aldinga Eco-Village, Judge of the Junior Lion of the year for Willunga Lions Club, Committee member of the McLaren Vale Business and Tourism Association, a volunteer at Fred’s Van and a mentor of children at the local Primary School.
